So, I was at an appointment today, thinking about Mimi's blog (very nice - thank you) and I was sharing with someone that I had relocated here from Colorado. "Colorado! Why would you leave Colorado?! Don't you miss it??!" she asked. The answer is NO!
...I knew I was truly home one July day last summer when we had family visiting. In the morning, we walked down to the beach on Drayton Harbor in Blaine and picked up crabs and found shells and watched the shore birds...We then packed a picnic full of local produce and drove up to Mt Baker and hiked around, even finding some snow...On our way back home, we stopped and did a bit of shopping in Fairhaven. I thought WOW! I haven't even left my home county and in one day I've tasted and touched the sea; I've hiked a glorious mountain and touched the cold of old winter snow; and I've shopped in a very, very cool and unique and local district. I felt like Dorothy - there really is no place like HOME...and for many lucky people, that home is somewhere in Whatcom County. If you are fortunate enough to live here...well, you are just that - fortunate!
